In April 2005, responsibility for the assets and liabilities of Springfields transferred to a new UK Government body, the Nuclear Decommissioning Authority (NDA). The company holding the nuclear license (i.e. Site License Company) to operate Springfields is Springfields Fuels Limited, which was formed April 2005 as part of the government's reorganization of the nuclear industry in the UK.

Westinghouse Electric UK Ltd is the Management & Operations (M&O) company running Springfields and Springfields Fuels Limited on the NDA's behalf.
