PITTSBURGH, May 17, 2013 – Westinghouse Electric Company appointed Consulting Engineer Alex Harkness as chair of the company’s Technical Leader Review Committee, which oversees development and placement of fellow and consulting engineers and scientists for Westinghouse technical leader positions.
Recognizing that technical expertise and leadership are key to continued global success, Westinghouse is committed to professionally developing technical experts, and works with the Technical Leader Review Committee to maintain their succession through mentoring, teaching and advising.
Mr. Harkness has been with Westinghouse Electric Company for 23 years in various engineering roles. Currently, he is a Research and Technology consulting engineer at the company’s Cranberry Township, Pa. (U.S.) headquarters where he is leading a diverse and talented team that is developing the Westinghouse Small Modular Reactor design.
Mr. Harkness has a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from the University of Pittsburgh and a master’s degree in mechanical engineering from Carnegie Mellon University.
