David A. Howell

Senior Vice President
Westinghouse Nuclear Automation

David Howell heads Westinghouse Electric Company’s Nuclear Automation organization, where he is responsible for leading product development, design, assembly and testing of advanced Instrumentation and Control (I&C) products required for both operating and new nuclear plant designs. This also includes control system component services, outage support and training. This global organization serves customers through operations in seven countries. David assumed this role in July 2010.

Formerly, David was the vice president of global Field Services from August 2007 through June 2010, where he had executive oversight of the business which offers complete outage support, advanced products, nuclear power plant component services, and training to customers worldwide.

In his 28 years with Westinghouse, he has held engineering and field operations management positions for business lines related to reactor vessel and steam generator inspection and repair for PWR nuclear steam supply systems.

David also served as acting vice president of Field Services from June 2003 to July 2004 during the company-wide rollout of Customer 1st, Westinghouse’s initiative aimed at improving the way the company executes jobs and ensuring that customers are delighted with Westinghouse’s service.

David is a certified Customer 1st Leader (CFL) and was the Customer 1st deployment director for Westinghouse’s Nuclear Fuel business, with responsibility for driving the implementation of the initiative throughout that business.

David holds a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from Geneva College in Beaver Falls, Pennsylvania (USA). He is a registered professional engineer in Pennsylvania.
