Rick Etling

Vice President,
Strategy

As vice president, Strategy, Rick Etling is responsible for leading the Westinghouse strategic planning process and implementation. He assumed this position in July of 2008.

Prior to this role, Mr. Etling was vice president, Business Planning & Strategy with the Nuclear Fuel business. In this position, he was responsible for the strategic direction of more than 4,000 employees who provide an expanded range of facility and fuel configurations for pressurized water reactors, boiling water reactors, advanced gas-cooled reactors, Magnox reactors and VVERs. During this time, Mr. Etling was an instrumental co-leader of the One Month Analysis Team, providing invaluable strategic guidance and encouraging breakthrough thinking.

Mr. Etling was vice president of Strategy in the Nuclear Services business unit from 2000 until his Nuclear Fuel assignment. In 2006, Mr. Etling served as corporate leader of the integration of Westinghouse and current parent company, Toshiba. Mr. Etling served as liaison between the Westinghouse executive leadership team and Toshiba’s coordination office and provided technical, commercial and strategic leadership.

In 2000, Mr. Etling served as the nuclear services team leader for the acquisition of ABB-CE’s commercial nuclear power businesses. When British Nuclear Fuel acquired Westinghouse in 1999, Mr. Etling helped develop and carry out the strategies that made the ownership change seamless to Westinghouse’s customers.

Mr. Etling joined Westinghouse in 1980 and has held technical and management positions of increasing responsibility. Before joining Westinghouse, he was a reactor engineer responsible for startup testing and reactor operations support at Virginia Power.

Mr. Etling has a bachelor’s degree in Nuclear Engineering from Penn State University and a master’s degree in Business Administration from the University of Pittsburgh.
