Auxiliary Motor Enginering Services

Big Motor Insp

Westinghouse Pump & Motor Services is committed to serving our utility customers for Class 1E large and medium motors. To demonstrate this commitment, Westinghouse maintains a strong motor engineering organization to support qualification, engineering, and replacement services.

Qualifications

Westinghouse has been performing qualification-related services since the beginning of the nuclear industry. Westinghouse has been active in the IEEE, ASME and ANSI organizations from the early 70’s. Westinghouse continues with this commitment to the industry by supporting IEEE and EPRI committees.

Services include:

  • Motor seismic analysis
  • Motor environmental qualification
  • Finite element analysis to support repair
  • Motor life extension

Engineering

In addition to qualification services, Westinghouse offers engineering support on existing motors. Since Westinghouse has design responsibility for Westinghouse-supplied 1E motors, we maintain engineering resources to support this effort. Westinghouse maintains close ties with the manufacturing facility to allow for a more uniform exchange of data for repairs, modifications, and upgrades.

Services include:

  • Answering design questions on existing 1E motors
  • Performing studies to support site testing
  • Extending motor service life by insulation studies
  • Generating application-specific instruction manuals
