WeLink, the Westinghouse innovation accelerator, is a creative working space for innovation, business and growth. Bringing together startups, innovators and the nuclear industry, WeLink offers new ways to connect and collaborate.
WeLink enables and empowers innovators to develop future technologies for safer, cleaner and more reliable nuclear applications.
To connect innovators, entrepreneurs, start-ups and small- to medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) with Westinghouse resources to collaborate and develop new products for nuclear applications.
Through WeLink, encourage new ideas and thinking that will help to ensure the continued global growth of nuclear energy and its carbon-free benefits.
WeLink will run two application intakes per year in selected technical areas. Focus areas in Sprint #2 are:
- Technologies for Integration of Nuclear and Renewables
- Artificial Intelligence and Machine-Learning Technologies
- Virtual- and Augmented-Reality Technologies for Industrial Applications
- Remote and Autonomous Drones and Rovers for Interior and Exterior Applications in GPS-Denied Hazardous Environments
- Cybersecurity and Behavior-Based Detection
- Disposal Technologies for Radioactive Waste
- Spent Fuel Applications
Prospective participants will go through a competitive selection process and have their submissions reviewed by a Westinghouse selection committee. Select applications will then be invited to a one-day event at the Westinghouse Nivelles site in Belgium (or attend via video-call), where they will pitch their project in front of technical experts from the nuclear community and business experts from the financing and investment community.
Up to six teams will be selected in each intake, and will get the opportunity to collaborate with Westinghouse.

All selected projects will go through a first Technology and Market Validation phase that – depending on the maturity or Technology Readiness Level – may last up to six months. This step will be followed by either a Development phase or a Commercialization phase depending on the conclusions of the first phase.
