This expertise originated over 135 years ago as the firm Stone & Webster, which engineered and built 17 nuclear power plants, including the first commercial nuclear power plant in 1957, which was designed by Westinghouse. Since then, the firm restarted 5 plants and returned 3 units to service, providing nuclear engineering operating plant services to more than 95% of the U.S. nuclear fleet and performing more power uprates (>4000Mwe) than any other Architect Engineer of record before joining with Westinghouse.
